Essential Oil Dilution Guidelines as Per Aroma Therapy Standard

Essential Oils Dilution Guideline

The usual essential oil dilution guidelines for essential oils for aromatherapy differ according to the type of oil, the manner of application, and the needs of the individual. However, a few general dilution ratios are widely used:

  • For adults: 2.5% dilution ( 15 drops of essential oil per 1 fluid ounce of carrier oil)
  • For children of age 2-12 years: 1% dilution (6 drops of essential oil per 1 fluid ounce of carrier oil
  • For infants babies up to 24moths age: 0.5% dilution (3 drops of essential oil per 1 fluid ounce of carrier oil)

1 fluid ounce = 30 ml

Note: Before using any essential oil, always consult a medical professional or aromatherapist. Special care to be taken if you have any health issues or are pregnant. Also, some essential oils are very strong and should be used with caution and only under the supervision of EO experts.
